The Honeymoon
In this painting Schwind recalled his own honeymoon, in 1842, depicting himself as the traveller standing by the coach. It is a particularly fine example of what the artist called his `travel pictures¿. He saw these forty-odd paintings as `a unified whole¿, despite their varying subjects and formats. Schack acquired the greater part of them for his collection.
