THE BENEFACTOR WHO CAUSED A STIR, BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT ART IS FOR EVERYONE. THE DONATION FROM THE ART MENTOR FOUNDATION LUCERNE

Pinakothek der Moderne
 ‐

The Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne has made a donation to the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen and to the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München of 58 top-calibre works stemming from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The donation consists of the former private collection of Christof and Ursula Engelhorn which the couple had contributed to the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne. Works by Piet Mondrian, Oskar Schlemmer, Palermo, Sigmar Polke, Claes Oldenburg and Cy Twombly complement our collections of twentieth-century art with these outstanding individual works. The Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München will show the collection of works by Jacques Louis David, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Théodore Géricault, Eugène Delacroix, Honoré Daumier, Georges Seurat and James Ensor in November in our exhibition spaces on the ground floor of the Pinakothek der Moderne. The Sammlung Moderne Kunst is integrating a selection of the exhibits into its display in the Pinakothek der Moderne.
